
Andrea is a resident restorer specialising in painted wooden supports, in charge of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure’s Painted Wooden Supports Department, and a lecturer at the OPD’s SAFS in its Wooden Support Workshop courses since 1987.
Member of the Getty Conservation Institute’s Panel Paintings Initiative. Coordinator for the ‘preservation of works of art’ site in the Palazzo Ducale in Sassuolo following the earthquake in Emilia in 2012. Co-Director of operations for moving and reassembling the Auschwitz Memorial from the concentration camp in Florence. Member of the mission to Nepal (2015) tasked by Minister Franceschini with assessing the opportunities for intervening on damaged cultural heritage.
In 2016 he subscribed to the “Cultural Blue Helmets” initiative promoted by Minister Franceschini, taking a series of tests and undergoing specific training to operate in critical situations for safeguarding works of art threatened by natural calamities or terrorism. Coordinator for the ‘preservation of works of art’ site in the Santo Chiodo storage facility in Spoleto following the earthquake in central Italy in 2016.
