Description:
The course provides a hands-on approach to the operational procedures for the correct recovery, on-site first aid, handling, emergency securing, and temporary storage of polychrome wooden supports, paintings on canvas, wooden sculptures, and stone artefacts damaged following emergency events.
Throughout the course, participants will be divided into groups to carry out practical exercises in handling, first aid, and securing works and models under the guidance and supervision of the lecturers.
Programme and modules:
The course will open with an introduction to the functional areas of the storage facility and the laboratory, followed by an in-depth examination of recovery procedures, on-site emergency interventions, handling, securing, and temporary storage, supported by the analysis of case studies of works held in storage.
Particular attention will be given to risk assessment and safety for both operators and objects, team organization, and the materials and equipment required in emergency contexts. Participants will be assigned specific tasks and will carry out securing, handling, and storage operations under the supervision of the instructors.
