Beginning with an analysis of construction techniques and primary degradation factors, the course provides the foundations for a correct assessment of the state of conservation. Particular attention will be paid to the methodological approach developed by the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, illustrating its principles and practical applications in restoration interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aimed at both students and professional restorers, the course combines theoretical lectures with practical exercises. It provides operational tools for analysing construction techniques, evaluating conservation status, and defining interventions for works on wooden supports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Hours and Modules<\/strong><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The course includes 3 hours of theoretical lectures and 27 hours of practical activity, from 09:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including lunch break. The theory sessions will cover the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Introduction to wood technology;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Characteristics of wood used in panel painting construction: mechanical and hygroscopic behavior;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Examination of degradation factors;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Primary methodologies used in historical restoration interventions versus current methodologies;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diagnostic investigations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The practical lessons will instead focus on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use and maintenance of tools;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Laboratory exercises involving &#8220;tassellatura&#8221; (inlaying\/patching) and repairs on models reproducing losses and cracks;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The use of electric routers;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Structural restoration interventions conducted on specially selected panel paintings;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Overview of the
